Nation’s Largest Hashish Firm Owes Michigan Grower $32M In Damages



Michigan hashish grower Hi there Farms is about to obtain $32 million after a federal courtroom jury discovered earlier this week that Curaleaf, the nation’s largest weed firm, breached its buy settlement. 

The ruling comes after almost 4 years of battling in courtroom between Curaleaf and the Au Gres-based grower. 

Curaleaf agreed to purchase 1000’s of kilos of Hi there Farms’ out of doors grown hashish if its product achieved greater than 12% tetrahydrocannabinol — or THC, the psychoactive ingredient in hashish — for $1,000 a pound in 2020 and $850 a pound in 2021. 

However after buying simply 2,000 kilos of the contracted 16,000 kilos in 2020, Curaleaf demanded to renegotiate as costs within the state’s authorized trade had been cratering.
